A note from Steve and Ellen Seskin:
Hey everyone! We really love reading your posts on this page, but lately my schedule hasn't allowed me to respond to all the messages here, even though I DO read them all. :) Your questions and comments are important to me and I want to make sure that you don't feel forgotten.
From now on, Ellen will be helping me keep up with these posts. She'll answer whatever you want to know, and if there's something she can't answer, she'll find out from me. If you want a personal reply, please leave your email address. Otherwise, replies will appear on this page.
I truly appreciate all the support, either communicated to me or not, that I have gotten from you through all these years. Without you, my music would not be the same!

Sorry we don't have a digital copy of This Good Tonight - it's about the only album we don't have! Anything else I can entice you with?

Just was cleaning out the attic and found my treasured LP... This Good Tonight. I am now jones-ing for a fix, and have long pass tossed my turntable. What gives? Why can't we be treated to a digital copy? Monterey Whaling Company + Steve still have never left our lives.

Thanks, Nancy. Steve had a great time performing for your students. He hopes to come back sometime and write a song with them. Thanks for checking in on his website.

Thank you, Steve, for sharing your words and your music with our students today! You do such a nice job communicating with these young people. I appreciated you ending your concert by inviting our students to join you in singing Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land." What fun that tribute concert must have been last summer in Boulder. We have a national treasure in Woody's lyrics and music! I look forward to checking out your songs on your website; new musical treasures. :-)

So sorry I didn't respond to you sooner. Steve has been very busy doing shows with two other singer-songwriters, Craig Carothers and Don Henry, but he is planning to sit down within the week and add the missing songs.

Where can i find the song, "we can we will."
A Very Rich Man
Denver Colorado
I saw Steve at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley, California July 1998. I've always been impressed by lyrical imagery ala Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen...But their songs don't make me laugh or cry. Steve did both that night. "And Then I Woke Up" made me laugh out loud and "Use Mine" still brings tears close to my eyes. Arthur Lee Land lived near Denver for awhile - a fine lead guitarist with his 'live looping' technology. A link to his website is here. With the emotional mastery it must take to write such a spectrum of songs and with friends like Arthur, Steve is a very rich man.

Steve will be doing his usual tour in January with Don Henry and Craig Carothers. The Bay Area dates are not solidified yet, but they will be here the second and third weeks of January. Keep checking the schedule - dates should be firmed up soon. If you aren't already on the email list, sign up - that way you'll be guaranteed to hear about the dates.

will you be bringing in the songwriters for the usual January tour? I want to get it on my calendar.
thanks.

Larry, thanks so much for your kind words. Steve's been doing so many schools lately that he doesn't do as many concerts as he used to - but he does still book them from time to time. I know he really enjoyed playing in Austin, so keep your eyes on his schedule - I'm sure he'll be back in your area sometime, hopefully soon! Tell Donna I'm really glad she enjoyed it, too - of course, I'm always blown away by Steve's talent!

Great show yesterday at Arhaven House Concerts! I hadn't seen you perform in years -- it was a real treat. You've written so many wonderful songs, so well-crafted...so 'from the heart'. My lady Donna was completely unfamiliar with your music prior to yesterday, and she came away very moved and impressed. Come back to Austin when you can...all the best...!

Carol, Steve doesn't have anything booked for Boise at this point, but he's always booking dates, and something might come up closer to you. Keep checking his schedule. In the meantime, have you checked out Songwork.com? It's a new service where you can watch videos of Steve and other writers show you how to get ideas for your song, what to think about when you write the music and lyrics, and how to make them better. There are also videos on perfomance, guitar playing, and I think some other things. Best of luck to you - writing songs with your clients sounds like a wonderful idea!

Glad you made it to the Monkey House show in Berkeley. Steve said it was really a lot of fun. Maybe I'll have to go too sometime!

I'm glad you like the song, "Grown Men Don't Cry." It's one of my favorites as well.
I think a lot of things inspire Steve. Sometimes it could be something that's been bothering him for a while, or it could just be a comment he heard in line at the grocery store. You probably know he does a lot of co-writing. I've always thought that, in songwriting, one plus one equals ten. When you write with the right people, you really inspire each other and get something many times better than either one might have written alone.
As far as advice, Steve would probably recommend that you join one of the songwriting organizations in your area. One that he likes a lot is NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International). They have chapters all over the world. I googled Songwriting Organizations and found this list: www.musesmuse.com/gensong .html You might check that and see if there is anything near you.
