A note from Steve and Ellen Seskin:
Hey everyone! We really love reading your posts on this page, but lately my schedule hasn't allowed me to respond to all the messages here, even though I DO read them all. :) Your questions and comments are important to me and I want to make sure that you don't feel forgotten.

From now on, Ellen will be helping me keep up with these posts. She'll answer whatever you want to know, and if there's something she can't answer, she'll find out from me. If you want a personal reply, please leave your email address. Otherwise, replies will appear on this page.

I truly appreciate all the support, either communicated to me or not, that I have gotten from you through all these years. Without you, my music would not be the same!

...I’ve been finding vinyl copies of the early recordings, one of particular interest being a copy of. “Greatest Hits” with Mick & Lady D’s autograph.
Of course yours as well. Bringing back memories of ‘73 when we met in Mendocino.
How’s this for a twist? I’m a DAD! A first timer at 63.
Carol and I enjoy the presence of our very dear Miranda, born in July of ‘17.
Quite the different expression of creativity from the flailings of the ‘Biz.
She’s quite the music lover, and responds immediately to sounds and rhythm by dancing in her own unique ways (yes, she has several different dances according to the intensity of the expression).
Still positive memories of our gigs on the road in the 70’s, as well as early ‘80’s performances w’ Robin.
I think folks would’ve been fascinated by our rehearsals with you, Robin and I, considering we were constantly laughing. Oh, we don’t live far Campbell, so memories of some of those inspired South Bay gigs resonate.
Well, Little Miss is imploring me to read her to read her a book, so I must be going.
Happy New Year you two!
May your muse forever inspire a clever twist of phrase, and that your toolbox have an x-tra set of strings.
Yes Miranda, daddy hears you...C’ya Steve.

Hello Steve, I met you at the Travis Tritt show in Wabash IN. We spoke at you merc table about the possibility of you helping me make a connection to the artist community regarding my song writing. Any light you can shed on getting my songs out there please let me know.
Thank you, Tim Wiesner
Tim, I've passed your request on to Steve. He's pretty busy right now, but when things calm down he should be able to help you with your questions.

Watching the Willie Gershwin Award and remembered that I had not remembered your concerts in Menlo Park, so many years ago. I just signed up for concert info and hopefully, you will be playing your wonderful music in the greater Bay Area soon.

Hello Ellen,
was listening to a young singer songwriter and I immediately was brought back to the very early days in SF when Steve use to play on the steps of the Cannery.
I decided to check Steve's schedule to see when he is in the Bay Area next. Lo and behold next weekend he is in Campbell playing request. Wow! Unfortunately we are not available that Saturday. Do you have any idea when he might be back in Campbell Ca again this year?
Ps. I would have requested something from his very first album that I purchased from Steve when he was playing at the Drinking Gourd circa 1970 SF.
Best, Kerry
Ellen/Kerry writes:
It was great to hear from you - wow, the Drinking Gourd? That was even before my time!!

I'm not sure exactly when Steve will be playing in Campbell again, but he does still do dates in the Bay Area a few times a year. The best way to find out is to sign up on his mailing list. That way you can hear about anything upcoming.

Another interesting show he does is to bring a couple of songwriters out from Nashville and do shows "in the round" where they take turns singing songs and telling stories about them. If you've never seen a show like that, give it a try - they're really great.

Thanks for writing!

Dear Steve,
Will I be able to do, what the character of your "Right Out of Nowhere..." did? I am not sure yet. I need to do exactly that, but am still not ready. And need to listen to your song more, or maybe even sing it. But, what an exact match for my very tough situation... Wow...

I've been living without most of my stuff for over half a year now - hotels, and finally renting an apartment, not being able to live in my house with piano and many of my music and other books etc etc. (details about why later), but somehow the CD of your songs, along with Don's and Craig's happened to be in my car. And, when a few days ago I put it into the car CD player, your song drove me to tears... I have not cried for a long time, but these tears were from the sense of relief from getting the right answer finally. Thank you, Steve. You already know that you are a brilliant songwriter. But this song manifested something absolutely extraordinary. Besides many amazing metaphors ("brushed her fear away" etc.), this song is so empowering. The lines " "You are free to go" , as well as "Dream, and the way will be clear. Pray, and the angels will hear. Leap, and the net will appear." seem to be the ones for me to repeat, cause lately it felt that I was in a very dark place... after I lost all my hopes in the battle with cruelty and corruption, particularly dealing with the issue of fraud in my medical histories and in many other places, where people would take care of disability, loosing the sense of their humanity, in our autistic community. I've been home-bound lately, during the long wet season (much to explain...) and was unable to come to your annual concerts in the Bay Area, regrettably. However, I wanted you to know that your songwriting makes a true difference. Blessings to you and yours, and much inspiration! 415.866.0335 (pls, keep private my new #)

Hello it has been many years .. I used to work for the Harvest Festival when you and Steve traveled a bit with them I think it was pre 1985 I bought all of your cassettes even had y'all autograph a few of them and I have been listening for years .. Now they are worn out and I have been searching for the wonderful old songs again .. If I ran the circus , sail boat, if you fall in love, and all the rest from the early days ... One of my favorites is one you did Ellen, can't recall the name but it is about the boyfriend that is in love with someone else .. Thinks of you as only a friend ... I soo miss singing along to all those old songs ... I have found a few on I tunes but so many are not there and I was hoping there was a way to replace them and also that there would be a performance somewhere soon that I could come see... Glad to see where life has taken you !!! Thank you so much for the years of music .. It has traveled all these years thru my crazy life and made it so much better along the way ! God Bless you both !
Ellen/Rikkie writes:
Rikkie, wow, after all these years, it's great to hear from such a loyal fan! We haven't made tapes in years, but we still have copies of most of them, and a few have even been transfered to our computer. I'm sending you a private email, and we can talk about how to add Steve's music back into your collection!

Just hoping this is THE Steve Seskin whose albums I enjoyed in the 70's. Introduced to his music thru a fellow Texan/friend Mike Mitchell who played on one of his earlier albums. Moved to CA and saw him live at Strawberries in Angels Camp? Lost all my music in a move and his albums are what I've always missed most...The Tahoe Song, etc.
Ellen/Peggy writes:
Hi Peggy, this is indeed THE Steve Seskin (I love how you say that!) He's still living in Northern California, and still doing music in addition to his school work and teaching. Where do you live now? It's certainly been a long time since he wrote the Tahoe Song! I'm hoping you live somewhere near one of his planned performances sometime this year. If you do make it to one, please go up and say hi to Steve - I think he'll get a kick out of hearing about "the old days!"

Steve is an amazing person. I first met him in San Francisco with TCTW 2013. He made us feel welcomed and really interacted with us. It was my birthday the day we listed to him and he really made it a special birthday. I look forward to going to Stockholders and hearing his songs.
Ellen/Caitlin writes:
I'm so glad you enjoy Steve's music. I hope you made it to Stockholder's this year. If you didn't, never fear, he'll be back again next year!

Ellen! I need a little advice...I've been freelance writing and being published here in Bartlesville for the Examiner-Enterprise. A certain oountry music artist is coming to town in Sept and I would love to snag the interview. Any thoughts?
Ellen/Annie writes:
I'm not really sure what advice I can give you, not knowing who the artist is. I would google them and then try to find any leads there - fan clubs, record company, booking agents, etc. If there's a radio station sponsoring the concert, call them. You could also try the venue. Good luck!
Ellen/Annie writes:
Annie, I tried to send you an email but it came back as no such address. Not having much luck, I'm afraid.

Ellen/Annie writes:
Wow, Radney Foster? How long ago was that?!!? Thanks for the hello - keep listening, and if you make it to one of my shows, come up and say hi!

Thoroughly enjoyed the show Saturday night. I recall the last show of yours that I had attended at The Keystone...Memorable how you could leave the stage, walk through the club, playing and singing without any amplification while still filling the room with your wonderful song. Thank you AGAIN.
Ellen/Dan B. writes:
I'm so glad you enjoyed the show! The Keystone - wow, haven't thought about that place in a while. Now what's there - art store, photocopy place, restaurants? Thing do change.
