One of Steve's favorite jobs is writing songs with children. When he goes to schools as an Artist in Residence, Steve teaches children of all ages how to write songs — and in the process writes one with them. Here are some of the songs Steve and the kids have written in the past few years. You can listen to or download the songs for free!

Trust Me - MAY 2013PS 78, 2nd grade: Staten Island, NY
Trust Me - MAY 2013
It’s your first day at your new school
Let me be the first to welcome you
I’ve been here a while and I know what to do
Can I borrow your pencil I’ll give it back
Right after I’m done with my fraction facts
No I won’t forget and put it in my backpack

Trust me
You can count on me to be there for you
Trust me
You can count on me to do the things I say I’ll do
I won’t laugh at you
I won’t lie to you
I will be a friend of yours
Trust me
And I’ll trust you

In our classroom we get stickers and stars
If we do our best and work real hard
We’ve got books in baskets and bugs in jars
Everyone is nice here we all get along
We say we’re sorry when we do something wrong
If someone is sad we sing them a happy song

Trust me
You can count on me to be there for you
Trust me
You can count on me to do the things I say I’ll do
I won’t lie to you
I won’t laugh at you
I will be a friend of yours
Trust me
And I’ll trust you

Trust me
You can count on me to be there for you
Trust me
You can count on me to do the things I say I’ll do
I won’t lie to you
I won’t laugh at you
I will be a friend of yours
Trust me
And I’ll trust you
Trust me
And I’ll trust you

Love - MAY 2013 PS 78, 1st grade: Staten Island, NY
Love - MAY 2013
I love myself
I love my family
My teacher and my friends mean the world to me
I love to learn
I love to read
I love to wake up in the morning and breathe
And I especially love when people are kind to me

Love comes from the bottom of your heart
Love is in the air
It’s what we want, what we need
It’s in our soul, it’s beautiful
Love is everywhere
Love love love
Sing it now love love love

Working together
And helping each other
Treating everybody like sisters and brothers
That’s my dream
How I want the world to be
I wish everyone could live in peace and harmony
And I realize that it all starts with me

Love comes from the bottom of your heart
Love is in the air
It’s what we want, what we need
It’s in our soul, it’s beautiful
Love is everywhere
Love love love
Tell me about it love love love

Love is happy ever after
It can make you smile
And fill your life with laughter
Sometimes it’s easy
Sometimes it’s not
When you lose someone you love it hurts a lot
And when you’re in it
Better give it all you’ve got

Love comes from the bottom of your heart
Love is in the air
It’s what we want, what we need
It’s in our soul, it’s beautiful
Love is everywhere
Love love love
Sing it one more time love love love
Love love love

Stop Sign - MAY 2013Woodfern Elementary, 3rd grade: Hillsborough, NJ
Stop Sign - MAY 2013
If you’re about to say something mean to somebody
Think twice, make a stop sign
When you’re madder than mad and just want to explode
Don’t pick a fight, make a red light
Imagine how you would feel if somebody did it to you
Pause for a minute, take some time to really think it through
If you’re about to say something mean to somebody
Think twice, make a stop sign

A couple of days ago playing basketball with my friends I missed a shot
Someone yelled you’re lame, why do you play this game
I felt like a volcano about to erupt
When one of my friends said don’t stoop to their level
Just go home and punch a pillow
Eat some rocky road ice cream with those little marshmallows

If you’re about to say something mean to somebody
Think twice, make a stop sign
When you’re madder than mad and just want to explode
Don’t pick a fight, make a red light
Imagine how you would feel if somebody did it to you
Pause for a minute, take some time to really think it through
If you’re about to say something mean to somebody
Think twice, make a stop sign

One day my sister said can I borrow your laptop for 20 minutes or so
Three hours later I asked can I have it back
And she had the nerve to say no
I was agitated aggravated angry and annoyed
I wanted to smack her and smash all her toys
But I said to myself there’s a better choice

If you’re about to say something mean to somebody
Think twice, make a stop sign
When you’re madder than mad and just want to explode
Don’t pick a fight, make a red light
Imagine how you would feel if somebody did it to you
Pause for a minute, take some time to really think it through
If you’re about to say something mean to somebody
Think twice, make a stop sign

Care Bears - MAY 2013Brooks Crossing Elementary (3rd, 4th & 5th grades): North Brunswick, NJ
Care Bears - MAY 2013
One day I got to school and somebody threw my book in the trashcan
I asked him why he did it and he said just for a little joke
I said that’s messed up dude
Would you like it if somebody did that to you
No no no you’re outta control
No no no that’s not how we roll

We are the care bears
We’re there for each other
We’ve got what it takes
We are the care bears
We show we care
We work together to make this school better
We don’t just stand by we stand up
For ourselves and one another
We are the care bears
We’re there for each other

One day during recess I happened to notice someone standing alone
So I said why don’t you join us, we’re about to play basketball
His smile could barely fit on his face
He said I knew Brooks Crossing was a caring place
Yea yea yea we show respect
Yea yea yea kindness is what you get

We are the care bears
We’re there for each other
We’ve got what it takes
We are the care bears
We show we care
We work together to make this school better
We don’t just stand by we stand up
For ourselves and one another
We are the care bears
We’re there for each other

Bears for Brandon, labs for Logan
We care beyond our walls
We help our neighbors
People in need
‘Cause after all

We are the care bears
We’re there for each other
We’ve got what it takes
We are the care bears
We show we care
We work together to make this school better
We don’t just stand by we stand up
For ourselves and one another
We are the care bears
We’re there for each other
We are the care bears

Why Me? - APR 2013David Branken Elementary, 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th grades: Surrey, BC
Why Me? - APR 2013
One day I was walking on the grass field
On the playground at my school
Enjoying the breeze on a nice sunny day
When I saw something that wasn’t cool
Someone pushed my friend off the swing
They were lying there crying in pain
I said are you ok
And they said this happens to me everyday
And sometimes I just wanna say

Why me
Did I do something wrong
Why am I always the one getting picked on
Is it my size, is it my shape
Is it my religion or is it my race
The clothes on my back, the shoes on my feet
The color of my skin or the way that I speak
Why why why why me

So what if I’m different, so what if I’m strange
I am who I am and I’m not gonna change
Do what you will, point out my flaws
I won’t live by your labels, your rules or your laws
I won’t give you the power to ruin my day
Now and forever you can’t make me say

Why me
Did I do something wrong
Why am I always the one getting picked on
Is it my size, is it my shape
Is it my religion or is it my race
The clothes on my back, the shoes on my feet
The color of my skin or the way that I speak
Why why why why me

I hope that maybe someday
No one will have to say

Why me
Did I do something wrong
Why am I always the one getting picked on
Is it my size, is it my shape
Is it my religion or is it my race
The clothes on my back, the shoes on my feet
The color of my skin or the way that I speak
Why why why why me
Why why why why me

It's Your Move - APR 2013M J Shannon Elementary: Surrey, BC
It's Your Move - APR 2013
At my school three students decided to start a club
To hate on someone for no reason at all
To hurt them, to make them feel small
Then one day they asked me to join, I said no
They said if I didn’t I’d be next
Started talkin’ trash, makin’ threats
They swore if I told anyone
My life would be anything but fun
So I said to myself

It’s your move
Put your best foot forward
Do what you’ve gotta do
It’s your time
Don’t be afraid to do what’s right
Stand up for what you believe in
What happens here is up to you
It’s your move, it’s your move

I went home, I was feeling depressed and full of fear
Should I tell my parents or maybe not
Should I call my best friend or call the cops
That night I was having trouble getting to sleep
Said I don’t deserve all this stress
This is a complicated mess
And I said to myself

It’s your move
Put your best foot forward
Do what you’ve gotta do
It’s your time
Don’t be afraid to do what’s right
Stand up for what you believe in
What happens here is up to you
It’s your move, it’s your move

Next day when I got to school I told the principal about those those fools
I hope if this happens to you that’s exactly what you’ll do

It’s your move
Put your best foot forward
Do what you’ve gotta do
It’s your time
Don’t be afraid to do what’s right
Stand up for what you believe in
What happens here is up to you
It’s your move, it’s your move
It’s your move, it’s your move

See Something, Say Something - APR 2013Forsyth Road Elementary School: Surrey, BC
See Something, Say Something - APR 2013
If you see something say something
Stand up for yourself, stand up for somebody else
Your silence won’t make a difference
It’s all up to you, you know what to do
If you see something say something

At my old school there was a girl
Who wasn’t who she appeared to be
She used to say I’ll be your friend until the end
But she seemed a little two-faced to me
One day I caught her stealing stuff from someone else’s desk
A pencil, an eraser and a book
I should have turned her in but I was too afraid
So I just let her off the hook
Turned out that wasn’t all she took

If you see something say something
Stand up for yourself, stand up for somebody else
Your silence won’t make a difference
It’s all up to you, you know what to do
If you see something say something

There’s this new boy in my class
Who wears a turban on his head
I saw three punks making fun of his culture
I can’t repeat the words they said
I walked up to him and said it’s gonna be all right
Let me brighten up your day
I already told the teacher and the principal
How disrespectful they were talking to you that way

If you see something say something
Stand up for yourself, stand up for somebody else
Your silence won’t make a difference
It’s all up to you, you know what to do
If you see something say something
If you see something say something
If you see something say something

You and Me - MAR 2013Whitney Elementary 3-5th grades: Las Vegas, NV
You and Me - MAR 2013
Everyday when I come to school
You walk right by me you call me a fool
What’s up with that
Was it something I said or something I did
Or some rumor started by some other kid
Now it’s a fact we don’t have to be enemies
It’s up to you, it’s up to me

You and me can find a way
To show respect, to get along
You and me are different
But we can sing the same song
Let’s not call each other names or put each other down
When we have a problem let’s work it out
You and me will always be friends

Maybe Saturday we could hang out
We could meet at the rec or you could come to my house
I’d really like that, if we get to know each other
I’m sure we’re gonna find we have a lot in common
We both wanna be kind and that’s a fact
I’ll be there when you need me
Never again will we be enemies

You and me can find a way
To show respect, to get along
You and me are different
But we can sing the same song
Let’s not call each other names or put each other down
When we have a problem let’s work it out
You and me will always be friends

You and me can find a way
To show respect, to get along
You and me are different
But we can sing the same song
Let’s not call each other names or put each other down
When we have a problem let’s work it out
You and me will always be friends, forever
Friends who stand together
You and me, you and me, you and me

We Really Shine - MAR 2013Rex Bell Elementary, Grades 3 - 5: Las Vegas, NV
We Really Shine - MAR 2013
We sit at our desks with sharpened pencils
We come prepared, ready to learn
When our teacher talks we pay attention
Raise your hand for permission, don't forget to wait your turn
We always stay on task
When we have a question we ask

We are star students
We really shine
We do the right thing
Use our hearts and our minds
We are star students
All of the time
We work hard, we play hard
We're always kind
We're star students
We really shine shine shine
We really shine

We show how we care by encouraging others
Include one another, give compliments
And when someone is absent we help them catch up
So that they'll do their very best on the test
And some day we'll go to college
To reach that goal it'll take a whole lot of knowledge

We are star students
We really shine
We do the right thing
Use our hearts and our minds
We are star students
All of the time
We work hard, we play hard
We're always kind
We're star students
We really shine shine shine
We really shine

We are star students
We really shine
We do the right thing
Use our hearts and our minds
We are star students
All of the time
We work hard, we play hard
We're always kind

Success - MAR 2013Herr Elementary: Las Vegas, NV
Success - MAR 2013
Success is a choice you make
What does it take to reach the top?
If you work hard and follow your dreams
You can do anything, there'll be no stopping you
No excuses, no exceptions
Now you're headed in the right direction
Success is a choice you make

It's 8 o'clock, I could be watching tv
But instead
I'm sitting here studying for a pop quiz on American History
I wanna do my best
I'm gonna ace that test

Success is a choice you make
What does it take to reach the top?
If you work hard and follow your dreams
You can do anything, there'll be no stopping you
No excuses, no exceptions
Now you're headed in the right direction
Success is a choice you make

When I grow up I might be an engineer or a vet
A singer, a doctor, a deputy sheriff, a paleontologist, or a chef
No matter what road I choose
I'll rise to the challenge win or lose

Success is a choice you make
What does it take to reach the top?
If you work hard and follow your dreams
You can do anything, there'll be no stopping you
No excuses, no exceptions
Now you're headed in the right direction
Success is a choice you make

We're A Community - MAR 2013Washington Elementary kindergarten and 1st grade: Vancouver, WA
We're A Community - MAR 2013
Every day in our classroom
We talk about a lot of things
Like reading and writing, numbers and letters
Sometimes we dance and sing

We learn about seeds and trees and how plants grow
There's millions of things that we want to know

We're a community for learning
We're a community who cares
We look out for each other
We help one another
And that's how we'll always be
We're a community

In the afternoon at recess
We jump rope and do groovy steps
We make a fort out of a parachute
Then it's back to class to learn the alphabet

We're a community for learning
We're a community who cares
We look out for each other
We help one another
And that's how we'll always be
We're a community

Stand Up - MAR 2013Washington Elementary 4th & 5th grades: Vancouver, WA
Stand Up - MAR 2013
Way back in first grade I saw somebody pickin' on
My friend, makin' them feel small
I walked up and said stop it right now
Suddenly my friend stood up real tall
I learned a lesson that day
I'm here to hell you, I'm here to say

Stand up for each other
Stand up for yourself
If someone puts you down or pushes you around
Don't be afraid to ask for help
We're in this together
If you want our school to be better
Stand up, stand up

When I first came to this school I didn't know my way around
Didn't have any friends, felt a little left out
A bunch of kids said hey do you wanna hang?
Helpin' each other is what we're all about
That's how it is to this day
I'm here to tell you, I'm here to say

Stand up for each other
Stand up for yourself
If someone puts you down or pushes you around
Don't be afraid to ask for help
We're in this together
If you want our school to be better
Stand up, stand up

Stand up together
Stand up loud
Stand up strong
Stand up proud

Stand up for each other
Stand up for yourself
If someone puts you down or pushes you around
Don't be afraid to ask for help
We're in this together
If you want our school to be better

It's Your Choice - MAR 2013Fruit Valley Elementary: Vancouver, WA
It's Your Choice - MAR 2013
Every morning greet everyone with a smile
Say, "How you doin' today?"
Ask the kid with nobody to play with to play
If someone's being bullied stand up for them
Be a role model, be a good friend
And a little compliment goes a long way

It's your choice
To do the right thing, to always be kind
It's your choice
To follow your dreams, to make up your own mind
Only a fool would break all the rules
We're here to learn, to do well in school
It's your, it's your choice

Pay attention, work hard and study a lot
Don't fall asleep in class
And when you don't understand what our teacher just said, ASK!
Don't call people names, show them respect
No cursing, no cutting, no jumping off desks
And go where you're supposed to go when you get a hall pass

It's your choice
To do the right thing, to always be kind
It's your choice
To follow your dreams, to make up your own mind
Only a fool would break all the rules
We're here to learn, to do well in school
It's your, it's your choice

Don't be afraid to show your true talents
Always be who you are
Be honest, trustworthy, believe in yourself
With your feet on the ground shoot for the stars It's your choice
To do the right thing, to always be kind
It's your choice
To follow your dreams, to make up your own mind
Only a fool would break all the rules

It's My Time to Shine - MAR 2013Chinook Elementary 5th grade: Vancouver, WA
It's My Time to Shine - MAR 2013
I practiced day and night for months
Why am I so nervous? I've done this more than once
My family is in the crowd, I really want to make them proud
So butterflies take a hike, I'm about to rock this night

It's my time to shine, my time to reach for the sky
Show the world what I can do, I've got the heart to follow through
Everything will be just fine
It's my time, my time to shine

Now I'm about to take another topic test
I stayed up way too late and clearly I'm a mess
My report card's on its way, I'm hoping that it's A-ok
If I focus I'll do better, I've gotta pull myself together

It's my time to shine, my time to reach for the sky
Show the world what I can do, I've got the heart to follow through
Everything will be just fine
It's my time, my time to shine

No matter what the situation you gotta have determination
You gotta try try try
If you put your mind to it you can surely do it
When your confidence is shaken just keep tellin' yourself, tellin' yourself

It's my time to shine, my time to reach for the sky
Show the world what I can do, I've got the heart to follow through
Everything will be just fine
It's my time, my time to shine

Friendship - MAR 2013Washington Elementary 2nd & 3rd grades: Vancouver, WA
Friendship - MAR 2013
Friendship is a treasure, friendship is a gift
When you have a friend you have the power
To do anything your heart desires
Friendship, friendship, friendship

We swing on swings, we play four square
Rock paper scissors and wall ball
We make up songs, we make up stuff
We love sleepovers, we don't get enough

Friendship is a treasure, friendship is a gift
When you have a friend you have the power
To do anything your heart desires
Friendship, friendship, friendship

When I'm feelin' sad friends make me happy
We talk to each other, we work things out
We help each other make our dreams come true
If we stick together there's nothing we can't do

Dare to Dream - MAR 2013
When I grow up I want my life to be
Like a fantasy, full of magical things
I want to explore the possibilities
I can't wait to see what's behind every door

Dare to dream
Shoot for the stars
If you aim for nowhere you won't get very far
Just believe
In yourself
Do the best you can, they won't all come true
But dare to dream

I could be a chef or an architect a dolphin trainer or a baseball player
An artist, an author, a stylist or a surgeon
I can be anything I want to be
In the end it's up to me

Dare to dream
Shoot for the stars
If you aim for nowhere you won't get very far
Just believe
In yourself
Do the best you can, they won't all come true
But dare to dream

If we work together to make the world a better place
We can all be winners at the end of the race

Be Positive - MAR 2013Sarah J. Anderson Elementary: Vancouver, WA
Be Positive - MAR 2013
There was this boy in my class
Who always looked angry, frustrated, or sad
One day I walked up and said
Are things really that bad?

He said I feel like I have no friends
Like the world is gonna end
I said I'll be your friend
The world is not gonna end
I'll help you turn that frown upside down

Be positive
It's the only way to be
Wear a great big smile and pretty soon you'll see
Good things are gonna happen to you
And everyone around you will be smiling too
Be positive positive

Every morning I try to wake up
On the right side of the bed with a good attitude
I have food to eat, a place to sleep
And a thousand other reasons to show my gratitude

And when I'm havin' a real bad day
When my sky starts turnin' gray
I keep my chin up and was two words
The best advice I've ever heard

Be positive
It's the only way to be
Wear a great big smile and pretty soon you'll see
Good things are gonna happen to you
And everyone around you will be smiling too
Be positive positive

Next day he was hangin' out with some new kids
Playin' basketball - something he never did
He had a grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye
When we went back to class he said, "I'm givin' it a try"

Be positive
It's the only way to be
Wear a great big smile and pretty soon you'll see
Good things are gonna happen to you
And everyone around you will be smiling too

Side by Side - JAN 2013
When I fall you pick me up
And when the going gets tough
You can count on me to be there for you everytime
We are stronger together
From now until together
United you and I will be
Side by side

I was sure I put my sneakers in my locker
But when it was time to go to gym somehow they weren’t there
I looked in the lost and found, I looked in the library
I started to panic wondering where they could be
When you came along with some blue and yellow Nikes
Said, “Lookin’ for these?”

When I fall you pick me up
And when the going gets tough
You can count on me to be there for you everytime
We are stronger together
From now until together
United you and I will be
Side by side

Remember the time you fell and broke your arm at the skate park
I was the one who called your mom, said come right now
And when my favorite dog died you said “It’s hard to say goodbye
But it’s ok to cry”

When I fall you pick me up
And when the going gets tough
You can count on me to be there for you everytime
We are stronger together
From now until together
United you and I will be

Where Friendships Grow - JAN 2013
I love my school
People are nice and the teachers are cool
Everybody looks out for each other
Whatever we do we include one another

In class we learn
We raise our hands, we don’t talk out of turn
And when someone is struggling with science or math
Somebody says. “can I help you with that

This is a place where friendships grow
Where kindness blooms and caring flows
Where everyone’s equal and no one’s left out
Peace and respect is what we’re all about
This is a place don’t ya know
Where friendships grow

At recess
We jump rope and tell jokes and give compliments
And when we play pickle, knock out or four square
No one gets hurt ‘cause we always play fair

This is a place where friendships grow
Where kindness blooms and caring flows
Where everyone’s equal and no one’s left out
Peace and respect is what we’re all about
This is a place don’t ya know
Where friendships grow

I wish the whole world
Was just like PMG
That everyone could learn to live
In harmony

This is a place where friendships grow
Where kindness blooms and caring flows
Where everyone’s equal and no one’s left out
Peace and respect is what we’re all about
This is a place don’t ya know
Where friendships grow
Where friendships grow

Ti ti tikkun olam
Do a good deed for somebody
Imagine what the world could become
If everyone did tikkun olam

There was this girl in my school
Some kids decided that she wasn’t cool
They teased her, they taunted, said she didn’t belong
They asked me to join them, I said “No. This is wrong.
You’re being hurtful. Try being helpful
Have you ever heard of . . . “

Ti ti tikkun olam
Do a good deed for somebody
Imagine what the world could become
If everyone did tikkun olam

There was this hurricane
It brought devastation and so much pain
There were houses to rebuild and people to feed
And I said, “What can I do to help those in need?”
It was so hurtful, time to be helpful

Ti ti tikkun olam
Do a good deed for somebody
Imagine what the world could become
If everyone did tikkun olam

We’re a kehilat k’dosha
Like sisters and brothers we look out for each other

Imagine what the world could become
If everyone did tikkun olam

Let's Talk About It - JAN 2013PS 16: Staten Island, New York
Let's Talk About It - JAN 2013
I heard a rumor that you said
I was whack at kickball
That’s you’ve been talkin' smack behind my back
What’s up with that?

I always thought that your were my friend
Loyal to the end
When I needed someone to depend on
It was you
So say the rumors aren’t true
If they are tell me what'd I do

I will listen to you if you listen to me
It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong
There’s no problem too big if we can forgive
We can find a way to get along
There’s only one thing to do
Working it out takes two
Let’s talk about it
Let's talk about it

Yesterday when we were playing
You were show boating
And when your team won you were gloating
Laughing in our face

I was jealous, I was angry
I told people you were a phony baloney
I’m sorry
I didn’t mean it

I will listen to you if you listen to me
It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong
There’s no problem too big if we can forgive
We can find a way to get along
There’s only one thing to do
Working it out takes two
Let’s talk about it
Let's talk about it

Talk talk talk talk talk about it
Talk talk talk talk talk about it

I will listen to you if you listen to me
It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong
There’s no problem too big if we can forgive
We can find a way to get along
There’s only one thing to do
Working it out takes two
Let’s talk about it
Let’s talk about it

Friends Forever - JAN 2013PS 14: Staten Island, New York
Friends Forever - JAN 2013
Don’t hurt my feelings and I won’t hurt yours
We can rise up together
I have your back and you have mine
We can be friends forever

With your help I can fly
I can accomplish anything I try
Because I know you’ll be there
Cheering me on showing you care

Don’t hurt my feelings and I won’t hurt yours
We can rise up together
I have your back and you have mine
We can be friends forever

We play tag we play basketball
I’m pretty fast, you score a lot, you’re tall
And we always treat each other with respect
‘Cause when you give it that’s what you get

Don’t hurt my feelings and I won’t hurt yours
We can rise up together
I have your back and you have mine
We can be friends forever

Don’t hurt my feelings and I won’t hurt yours
We can rise up together
I have your back and you have mine
We can be friends forever

Never Give Up - JAN 2013Betsy Ross Elementary 3rd graders: NJ
Never Give Up - JAN 2013
At my school
We start every morning with a meeting
Where every single person gets a greeting
We plant kindness seeds
And in our classrooms
We learn history writing spelling and geography
Work with graphs and shapes to make math less a mystery
And we love to read
We inspire each other to have creative thoughts
We respect one another
Here at Betsy Ross

We never give up
Heads held high
We’re all about what we believe in
No matter how much life challenges us
We keep goin’
If we can dream it we can do it
We have fun working hard
That’s al there is to it

We never give up
We never give up
We never give up

Homework, let’s just say it isn’t always easy
But it’s easier if I’m not watching TV
So I can concentrate
Every Friday we sharpen our pencils for a spelling test
We dig down deep and always try to do our best
We usually do great

When one of us is thinkin’ there’s no way to make it fly
Someone else comes over says all you have to do is try

Love Me as I Am - JAN 2013Monaco 6th, 7th & 8th grades: Las Vegas, NV
Love Me as I Am - JAN 2013
Last week I was walking down the hallway of my school
Someone came up and said, “You’re a fool.
You’re a freak, you’re a nerd, you’re a goody two-shoes
Your sneakers are ugly just like you”
And I said, “Who are you to treat me that way?”
I said, “I don’t care what you think.” but what I wanted to say is

Love me as I am
Don’t judge me for what I believe in
We’re all beautifully diifferent, all perfectly great
We all deserve kindness, there’s no room for hate
Love me love me love me
Love me as I am

I walked away thinking I used to be just like him
It me against the world with no way for me to win
I was mean I was cruel I was hurting inside
I took in out on people ‘til I realized
We’re put on this planet to help one another
To respect and appreciate each other

Love me as I am
Don’t judge me for what I believe in
We’re all beautifully diifferent, all perfectly great
We all deserve kindness, there’s no room for hate
Love me love me love me
Love me as I am
Love me love me love me
Love me as I am
Love me love me love me
Love me as I am

Fill a Bucket - JAN 2013George Washington Elementary School: NJ
Fill a Bucket - JAN 2013
Fill a bucket every chance you get
Put someone else first, give a compliment
Show people kindness it’s easy to do
Help someone out and you’ll feel good too
Fill a bucket
Fill, fill, fill, fill a bucket

I like your Gatorade green t-shirt
And that pink flower in your hair really works.
You’re really nice
You’re super smart
You always show your enormous heart
Like when my best friend moved away
And you said, “Do you want to play?”
You put a smile on my face that day

Fill a bucket every chance you get
Put someone else first, give a compliment
Show people kindness it’s easy to do
Help someone out and you’ll feel good too
Fill a bucket
Fill, fill, fill, fill a bucket

ONe time I lost my favorite teddy bear
It was like it had vanished into thin air
I found the bear under a thousand other toys
Things that could be loved by other girls and boys
So my mom and I went down to the public park in tow
We donated those toys; made some smiles out of frowns

Fill a bucket every chance you get
Put someone else first, give a compliment
Show people kindness it’s easy to do
Help someone out and you’ll feel good too
Fill a bucket
Fill, fill, fill, fill a bucket

Be polite, pleasant, considerate, cheerful
Always show your heart of gold

Fill a bucket every chance you get
Put someone else first, give a compliment
Show people kindness it’s easy to do
Help someone out and you’ll feel good too
Fill a bucket
Fill, fill, fill, fill a bucket

We Are the Panthers - NOV 2012Western Primary School, 4th and 5th graders: Russiaville, IN
We Are the Panthers - NOV 2012
Every morning when I walk into my classroom
All my friends say, "Hi how ya doin’?"
"Did you do all your homework last night?"
And then the day begins
We get out our assignment notebooks
Sharpen our pencils as the principal walks in
He says, "Good morning, everybody!"
"Are you ready to learn today?"
And we say, "Of course!"

We are the Panthers, the Western Panthers
These paws don’t bully, these paws are kind
Our school is so cool
We walk the hallways with pride
We are the Panthers

We have recess, we get to go outside
Sometimes we race each other to the slide
And when we play games, we always play fair
We show each other how much we care

We are the Panthers, the Western Panthers
These paws don’t bully, these paws are kind
Our school is so cool
We walk the hallways with pride
We are the Panthers

What we believe we can achieve
If we work hard we will succeed
Nothing is impossible here!

We are the Panthers, the Western Panthers
These paws don’t bully, these paws are kind
Our school is so cool
We walk the hallways with pride
We are the Panthers (we encourage others)
We are the Panthers (we support each other)
We are the Panthers (we have the best teachers)

I'm Gonna Be a Leader - NOV 2012Mary Raber Elementary School, 4th and 5th graders: Columbia City, Indiana
I'm Gonna Be a Leader - NOV 2012
One day I was walking down the hallway of my school
I saw two kids fighting, breaking all the rules
While everybody else stood watching I was like a lifeguard at a pool
Yeah I dove into action, said, "Stop it right now, that’s not cool."

I’m gonna be a leader
I’m gonna show the world what I can do
Gonna be a leader
How ‘bout you?

Last week I was watching the news and I heard about the hurricane
All that water, all that damage from all that wind and rain
I was sitting there wishing I could help all those people in pain
If I was older, I’d tell you what I’d do, I’d hop on a plane

I’m gonna be a leader
I’m gonna show the world what I can do
Gonna be a leader
How ‘bout you?

I’m a self starter, a problem solver
I take pride in my work and I’m responsible
I’m a good listener, I’m open to all ideas
I try to do the right thing
I’m ready, willing and able

I’m gonna be a leader
I’m gonna show the world what I can do
Gonna be a leader
How ‘bout you?
